FamilySeed helps distant family members nurture emotional connection — one shared plant at a time.
Description
FamilySeed
is a speculative mobile experience designed for elderly Chinese parents and their adult children living apart. The app transforms daily family interactions into nourishment for a shared AR plant — a living symbol of care and presence.
Instead of messaging, users grow their bond through quiet rituals: uploading photos, sending memory prompts, or sharing meals. Each action becomes sunlight, water, or fertilizer — making love visible and growth feel mutual.
Process
- Mapped emotional needs across long-distance parent-child relationships.
- Developed symbolic interactions where different family acts support plant growth.
- Created a UI system accessible for elderly users, with large fonts, high contrast, and intuitive icons.
- Prototyped the plant animation and memory-sharing flow using Figma and AR simulation tools.
